1. Six Ways to Increase Ideas: a. Implement the Mistake of the Month Club - Award for trying new things - willingness to fail! b. Idea Quotas - Implement one new idea weekly or monthly c. Weekly Challenge - Assign a problem and ask for three creative solutions - use the coffee room for ideas on paper. d. Brainstorming breaks - utilize the break time for groups e. Cross department skunkwork groups - use one representative from each department. f. Encourage informal interaction with team members - self explanatory. 2. Six components to making meetings quick and a good investment of time: a. Accomplishment and blunder - focus on right and wrong b. Follow up from last meeting - is it progress or regress? c. New action planning - who will do it and what will they do? d. R and R - Reward and Recognition - every two to three months everone in the group should be recognized. e. Professional development f. Gneral announcements 3. My obervation of most groups I have participated in (from church, school, and work) follow: a. Most groups start with little planning and depend on the group to plan and build momentum. b. No one is recognized in work related groups. Sometimes outshining your boss can be a bad thing. c. MOST of the groups (in all categories) have never incorporated the six ways to increase ideas philosphy. This takes additional time and who has that after all?
